The DM you didn't know you needed.

Review of Adam Gray

Yes, in all seriousness - and like the title says - this is what I’ve come to realize after one year of playing with Adam across two campaigns.

He’s the DM that’s going to give you the full fantasy freedom experience and creativity. It will never be the same afterwards... You like epic battles, intense and nerve wracking ones…? You love roleplay…? You want a world that makes you feel immersed and your character a complete part of it..? Well then - you should keep reading.

This is my second review for Adam, and is one I write after immersing myself deeply into the DnD world. It’s also one I write out of gratitude for all the experiences over the last year - and especially the last 6 months.

So let’s talk about how Adam is as a DM - so you know what to expect:

Adam is a DM with a vocal and interpretation range that matches that of a professional actor. No exaggeration. It feels like his NPCs have a life of their own. That and wait until you hear him mimicking the voices and accents of a player character when they miss a session and he needs to improvise to keep them in the story. On point, while respecting the player's absence and freedom.

Adam is a writer as well. All his games are homebrew in terms of world and narrative - but not rules. The rules are the official ones from the 5e, with the occasional and on point DM discretion. Because, you know - Rule of cool.

He does an amazing job at worldbuilding. He does an amazing job in storytelling - and you know what’s even better - he does an amazing job in listening to his players' crazy ideas, exploring them and working together to reach a satisfying integration of their own individual stories into the worlds he builds. I used to be a very battle focused player - yet through Adam first and foremost (as well as the groups I found along the way) - I began to love the roleplaying aspect of this game. He gives so much space for players to interact with each other, build relations and dynamics... at times just sitting back and enjoying his players' flourish and making sure he is the catalyst for a fun and fantastical experience. A true catalyst of the party. It’s beautiful, when you understand the level of care he has for his players.

But well, we also want that nerve wracking battle when it’s like “oh damn, we’re going to die…!”. Well, maybe you will. I’ve escaped a few and seen comrades fall in battle - rather epically I must say. To the point of thinking - “If it happens to my character, I wanna go down like that!”.

Adam is a master at battle build up. It’s not like all the fights are going to be do or die situations, but when the climax is near you’ll feel it. When the stakes are high, you'll be sweating - and you'll feel so rewarded when it's done - it's breathtaking.

It’s also quite amazing how it feels like the dice gods just decide to help the story unfold in his games. Coincidence…? No, it’s just skillful storytelling and his own love for what he does.

Your character will be part of the world he’s in. Adam makes sure of that, because he loves the game the same as you. He’ll love to hear your stories and ideas. It feeds his creativity - Instead of wanting to follow a book or tell the story he wants he be by your side telling the story of the party, in the world he created and that your ideas helped enrich.

The amount of time Adam dedicates to his work, and his players - make him - in my humble opinion, the best DM I’ve come across so far in my DnD journey. I’ve played games with a modest 11 DMs so far, from one shots to campaigns.

Adam is the one DM I feel like I want to be playing with for as long as I play DnD.

John Is Fucking Rad!

October 12, 2024

Review of John Kesselring

John does an amazing job at combat, world-building, and roleplay as a DM. He also has amazing maps/assets and goes into great detail with environments. His character voices are fantastic and his style of DMing is both challenging, and entertaining.

John has been very fair, generous and helpful when it comes to new players, and folks who've been playing a while and have a particular style of playing. I actually brought in a friend of mine who has intense social anxiety and they have been having a great time at his table.

One thing I love about John is that he doesn't rely on rule-nerfs and banning feats/spells to manage personalities and works with you to generate a great experience. His entire style of DMing could be summed up as "Hold my beer!".

I would also recommend John if you are new to or want to explore live role-playing and are a bit shy or introverted. I actually had a hard time feeling comfortable with role-playing in my 6 years of playing, but I have had no issue doing it at his table.

John's fucking Rad!

Review of Christopher Ginn

Chris is a great DM, he really goes the extra mile. He's great at incorporating your character's backstory into the overall story and making them feel like they were written into the module. He makes both combat and social encounters exciting and runs a pretty balanced campaign.

Top-notch DM who brings out the best in his players

Review of Emmanuel Boston

I've been playing D&D on and off for more than 30 years, and EJ is by far the best DM I've every played with.
He has a true talent in brining out the best of his players, ensuring that everyone is engaged and feels comfortable. He encourages our characters to forge relationships with each other, to have conversations and goals outside the main storyline - but never pushes people to do anything they aren't comfortable with. His ability to roll with the punches and to never appear flustered or unprepared is truly impressive, and his descriptions, NPC voices and voicing and world building are immersive.
Always prepared, extremely patient with teaching new players, and adept at building a culture and a team out of a group of strangers.
He obviously loves what he does, is very knowlegable and most importantly - he makes it fun!
If you are unsure about playing an RPG, or of playing online with people you don't know, EJ is the perfect DM for you!

Review of Keenan Halpin

I have been playing various TTRPGs for years and Keenan is a great DM. He was a lot of fun and took into consideration the personalities of the players he was running for. He made voices for some of the characters and had nice ambience even for this short one shot.
I cannot recommend him enough to run a one shot and I hope to be a part of a campaign he runs in the future.

Detailed and Immersive

Review of Snohomish Brown

I've now played a couple times with Sno and (re)discovered the world of Night City and Cyberpunk. Sno knows the city map like the back of his hand, even to the point of being able to describe particular shops that sit on a given street and recall important historical moments that occured there. Ripperdocs and Bars all have their own personal history, and Snow knows them all. If you're looking for a detailed guide to Night City, look no further. As someone else said, it seems that he always recalls the intricate details at the most (in)opportune times to keep the story and your decisions immediately relevant. He remembers particular character details and seamlessly weaves them into encounters for roleplay, combat, and exploration. Cyberpunk 2020 is a crunchy system, but Sno has it covered and can guide you through learning and using it. It may not be for everybody, and the possibility of failure in Night City is a genuine reality in this game—with the luck of dice rolls, it may just result in being unable to complete the job you've been assigned. That simply serves to alter the narrative: since failure is an option, you may just find yourself with new enemies, new debts, or trying to figure out creative ways to do what needs to be done.

Snow is excited to share the world of Cyberpunk at its golden hour before the 2077 frenzy. So if you're looking for a classic-style TTRPG with crunchy rules, realistic equipment management, and Immersive detail of the world at large, give Sno a chance.

Inspiring GM

September 29, 2024

Review of David Amodeo

Dave is an awesome game master, no matter the game. He has a great way of creating space for his players to role play and develop character and relationships. He doesn’t railroad - he’s always ready to pivot to follow the players’ lead. For me, that’s the perfect game master. Committed to making sure the players have a good time, while not making it too easy. There has to be tension in order for the role play to be immersive.

One time sessions require payment up front to reserve your seat.

Ongoing campaigns are subscription based, and cards are charged during the initial purchase, which sets up a "subscription" for an event. Accounts are charged upon the "next" scheduled event start time.

Players may put their subscription on "hold" at any time before the next event. However, the game often will continue even when players are absent. "Holding" ones' subscription is best preceded by conversation between the player and GM.

When payment is processed for initial purchases, players will immediately receive a link connecting them with the Game Master and their group on discord. This app is required for connection (and is free to use).

Our games have it all: roleplaying, combat, exploration, and positive social connection. We use the “playstyle” rating system so that each game has a unique characteristic based on the qualities of the players and GM. There is a great game for everybody, and not every session will be a perfect for every player. We understand this and its baked into the entire process.
