About the Adventure

Please message GM prior to registration.

Having survived the ancient horrors of Peru, the investigators uncover apocalyptic schemes they must prevent.

Come live the Cthulhu Mythos. Don’t know what that is…well, its horrifying. Its 1920s style pulp investigation. Think Indiana Jones meets really horrible monsters. Try and solve mysteries without dying or losing your mind, and you’ll hopefully make some new friends as well!

Don’t worry, if you’ve never played anything but D&D, or never played and RPG at all, we’ve got you covered.

…………………..

Wait, how does this compare to D&D? Cthulhu is an RPG, a collaborative story, similar in general style to D&D. It is a different system (different rules…which we’ll teach you). This system focuses on investigating the horrific and dark mysteries of HP Lovecraft’s dark vision and mythos. Its set in the early 1900s, so think Indiana Jones meets National Treasure…but everything is much darker.

…………….

New player? We’d love to have you join us. Most folks will be new to this system. But if you like this type of story, we want you here. We’ll help you figure out all the rules. The goal is to meet new people, play some RPGs, and have a great time.

Adventure overview:

The year is 1925, in the real world. Only some things are different.

There are rumors…in New York, Cairo, Shanghai, of mysterious cults and an unexplained darkness. In its wake only death.

You are a classic investigator, possibly a scholarly professor, a tomb raiding adventurer, detective, reporter, scientists, explorer, or even a preacher looking for something more.

You will find something here, but the question is are you ready for it?

About the DM:
Emmanuel (EJ) is a longtime professional GM, has run hundreds of sessions for RPG Club, and loves the art of storytelling. They work well with beginners and experienced players alike, and bring their professional teaching background to their work at the table.

What if you’ve never played an RPG, what is it like?
Our games are player-driven, putting you and your character at the center of the plot. Your choices will decide the outcome: from heroic victory to an untimely end. We’re here to tell a great story that makes you feel like you’re in your favorite book or movie.

Who will like this game?

  1. Players brand new to table top roleplaying! This is a great first adventure.
  2. Players who want to explore a world, discover exciting places, and make complicated decisions.
  3. Players who are interested in developing a story, interacting with dark mysteries, and investigating the unknown.
  4. Working together with other players to solve problems, and have a great time in the process!

What do you need to play?:
Dice, digital or physical. A copy of the Call of Cthulhu 7th Ed RPG book is optional. Don’t worry about making a character ahead of time.

This campaign is played online via Fantasy Grounds (free version) and Discord

Great intro to a different system

August 30, 2024

EJ runs a great session and does a great job of explaining Call of Cthulhu in a way that helped make the game make sense and handed over autonomy very quickly!

Technology – smooth and effortless Discord to supplement theater of the mind and an optional ambient background player created a really casual yet immersive vibe.

Story/Characters – with an easy lead-in and a nice range of pre-made sheets, it was easy to dive in while still customizing characters just enough to give them enough personality to shine in a one shot. The gameplay is fast and smooth, keeping things progressing quickly with clear impact to the world based on our decisions.

EJ was very welcoming and friendly, and really runs a great one-shot. I’d highly recommend giving him a try if you want to learn a new system!

EJ is the best!

July 21, 2024

I’ve been playing in a campaign run by EJ for a few months now, and I have to say, it’s hard to imagine playing with another GM at this point. His high level of knowledge and expertise, combined with the mutually respectful (and silly!) environment he cultivates in every group makes for a consistently enjoyable gaming experience. He is so approachable, friendly, thoughtful, helpful, patient, *and* funny.

To put it simply: if you aren’t playing with EJ, you are missing out!

I played in a level 5 one shot with EJ and one other player, it was an excellent experience. The game had great storytelling details, an interactive world, dangerous combats, and player agency. What more could you want in D&D?

Small party, big fun

I was part of a recent campaign and EJ did a fantastic job. The storytelling was great, and the encounters were engaging. Excited to get back in and play again.

Really fun!

I had an amazing one shot last night and I had a lot of fun. A small group of people but it was still very entertaining and engaging. Answering any and all questions we had and made it very easy to play! Would def recommend!!!
