About the Adventure

A Cyberpunk 2020 one-shot set in Night City circa January 2020. Our story precede the timeline of the wildly popular Cyberpunk 2077 CD Projekt Red videogame.

If you have only played the video game and want to try out the Table Top Role Playing Game (TTRPG) that inspired it, this is your perfect starting point!

Overview:

Carving a name for yourself in the streets of infamous Night City takes tremendous guts, and a little luck, if you ever hope to become a legendary edgerunner! This is the perfect way to learn Cyberpunk2020, and continue your adventures in the Land of the Free… Home of the Brave. You can choose from several different career roles: Solo, Netrunner, Medtech, Media, Rocker, Fixer, Nomad, Techie, and more. Let me know if you have something more unique in mind.

An Alternate Timeline (from Hollywood 1980s…think: Escape from New York, Escape from LA, Blade Runner, Hacker)

After the collapse of the United States in the mid-90s, cities populations fled or rioted and many citizens become homeless. Martial law was declared in response to the looting and mayhem, meanwhile the system experiences a brutal lawyer purge. The Gang of Four, DOJ, CIA, FBI, ATF maintained corporate power through the First and Second Central American conflicts, but during the early part of new millennium, the US reorganized itself thanks in large part to the corporations that still control most of the resources. The disenfranchised and nomad populations continue to grow. Camps overflow with the displaced, jobless, and discarded dregs of society. The once-proud streets of Night City are plagued by crime and homelessness, while everyone is on edge, not knowing who to trust…

This is the classic role playing game of the dark future. New threats and opportunities are ready to emerge and take advantage of the disarray. It maybe that some villainous plots are indeed all around you…

Amidst this chaos, will you emerge as new heroes from the shadows of Night City? Or just make the eddies you need to survive and let the rest find their own way?

Check out the complete timeline here: https://cyberpunk.fandom.com/wiki/Timeline (Keep in mind events said to happen in the future are speculations at best, meta-gaming at worst)

What I Provide:

A full campaign tailored to each group of players, designed for long term play
Comprehensive guidance for character building and roleplaying in Cyberpunk2020
Free access to my Roll20 game, where we access online maps, character sheets, combat macros and more.
Access to the campaign Discord server, for in-game voice chat, as well as between-game discussion.

What you need before the first session:

A computer/laptop with camera and microphone capabilities (required)
A Free Roll20 account (required)
A notepad and writing implement (recommended)
A phone/tablet/second screen (optional)
A separate webcam/microphone/headset (optional)
Gameplay Themes:

The introductory story arc explores the circumstances of a city recovering from scandal and corruption. New threats to the existing power structure bring mistrust and fear, while new opportunities provide hope for those desperately trying to survive and recover.
Amidst these ongoing themes, you will have your own story to tell, your own role to play.

These one-shot experiences welcome a wide range of expressions, from the epic to the hilarious, and will reflect the collaborative spirit of each group. You will get what you put into it and creative collaboration and friendly participating will be rewarded.

One theme stands above all in our playing together: fun in its purest form can be had even in the darkest of moments!

I look forward to meeting you, edgerunner….see you in Night City!

Cyberpunk is the classic role-playing game of the dark future. Expect to lose your character’s life quickly if you’re not too careful. The world of cyberpunk is a violent, dangerous place, filled with people who’d love to rip your arm off and eat it. The traditional concepts of good and evil are replaced by the values of expedience. You do what you have to do to survive. If you can do some good along the way, great. But don’t count on it.

Playing your character with the proper disaffected, cynical-yet-idealistic style, whether you’re a biker with leather skin and metal claws, or a debutante in satin, sporting the latest in designer cyber-optics, you’re going to need a certain panache, a certain flair, in portraying yourself. To achieve the essence of the dark future you will need to bring to the table your mastery of three concepts:

Style Over Substance – It doesn’t matter how well you do something if you don’t look good while doing it. If you’re going to blow it, make sure it looks like you planned it that way. How you look means more than the words you say in this world.

Attitude is Everything – Swagger, give them your best “killer” look. Don’t just sit around your flat or cube waiting for the next job. Get on out and make sure you’re where the party starts.

Always Take it to the Edge – Never play it too safe. Risk it all for a cause. Start the rebellion, light the fire. Throw yourself against the danger and fight for big issues! Break the Rules!

Who will like this game?

You will love this game if you enjoy science fiction themes and an easy to learn system of play. If you can roll a randomized set of dice, then in matters where an element of chance is used to determine game outcomes, you will have the opportunity to test your skills and luck. Exploring the cyberpunk world and Night City in particular offers a variety of interactions with various other patrons and opportunities to discuss in game freelance “work”. This game session features character generation possibilities for those interested in exploring that option.  We will go over the rules for character generation and get a chance to develop our character’s back story and how they are connected to the scene.

Character Creation Guidelines
Standard CP2020 rules apply, and players are welcome to bring their self generated characters to the game. Contact me to gain access to your very own character sheet. For those unfamiliar with character creation using this game rule set, we will work together on it and get it done pretty quickly so you can start playing right away.  We will learn the rules together and immediately apply them in a sandbox style world that you can explore with other players.

Trigger warnings galore:

Game themes may include topics such as mind altering tech, drugs, addiction, speciesism, class-violence, robbery, torture, murder, and more. These themes will be disclosed to you, to the best of the host’s ability, during the “session zero” pre-game conversation, new player onboarding, and/or in the event description. While some topics may arise through player decision/action within the gaming world, hosts will make a sincere attempt to brief players on possibly sensitive topics beforehand.

Detailed and Immersive

September 29, 2024

I’ve now played a couple times with Sno and (re)discovered the world of Night City and Cyberpunk. Sno knows the city map like the back of his hand, even to the point of being able to describe particular shops that sit on a given street and recall important historical moments that occured there. Ripperdocs and Bars all have their own personal history, and Snow knows them all. If you’re looking for a detailed guide to Night City, look no further. As someone else said, it seems that he always recalls the intricate details at the most (in)opportune times to keep the story and your decisions immediately relevant. He remembers particular character details and seamlessly weaves them into encounters for roleplay, combat, and exploration. Cyberpunk 2020 is a crunchy system, but Sno has it covered and can guide you through learning and using it. It may not be for everybody, and the possibility of failure in Night City is a genuine reality in this game—with the luck of dice rolls, it may just result in being unable to complete the job you’ve been assigned. That simply serves to alter the narrative: since failure is an option, you may just find yourself with new enemies, new debts, or trying to figure out creative ways to do what needs to be done.

Snow is excited to share the world of Cyberpunk at its golden hour before the 2077 frenzy. So if you’re looking for a classic-style TTRPG with crunchy rules, realistic equipment management, and Immersive detail of the world at large, give Sno a chance.

Great games and great GM

September 28, 2024

I was a player in Sno’s game for several years. His ability to weave exciting storylines for new and seasons players is incredible. The sense of adventure and immersive world building brings players coming back and feeling invested. He gives great help when needed, but not too much. He encourages roleplaying and rewards creativity while helping all players feel valued.

Exquisite detail

Sno possesses a single-minded focus and determination. The important details are never lost on him. Did you forget to bring a mask well people actually will recognize you later. If you crash into a wall how much damage does the wall take how much do you take? How heavy was the vehicle how fast was it? And he is not limited to small-scale robberies and punk-level combat either. He has no issues with increasing the scale of the maps to kilometers and rolling out the tanks.

In our last game, we had been escorting some cargo to the Aldecaldos nomad clan. We had an issue with some deadbeats that we managed to solve via social skills and the glint of a threatening shotgun. As we were driving through the canyons we would see a Militech A-20 hovercraft. It was a serious threat but we had crazy and a bit of luck on our side.

I’ve never seen him compromise on the specifics of the story and never seen one go unfinished. I’ve had all sorts of fun adventures with Sno from corporate espionage too slumming it with the gang.

Ran 3 or 4 sessions with Sno now. Really good DM and the minor issue I did have was explained to me in a clear way so I could understand his perspective.

Had the chance to run a bit of the introductory one shot that Snohomish set up of for our group and truly enjoyed it. Snohomish helped us set up our characters and explain most of the mechanics we had questions with as well as provide us with the necessary tools to run the campaign via Roll20. Plug in all the information to roll20 and the cyberpunk character creation tool they had was so convenient as when you had to roll for something you could just click that specific skill on the character sheet and include modifiers. As for the campaign one shot, we had a nice introduction to Night city including some of the lore and characters in the overall game world. Overall enjoyed the campaign as well as all the help and tools we used.
