About the Adventure

It’s the end of a particularly slow afternoon, the TrollSkull Tavern now gaining some business since the events that landed your group of adventurers at the center of a mad power-play by the four overlords of the Underworld.  The bane of Waterdeep, yet illusive enough to evade capture by Council of Lords.   Hopefully, this evening will bring in more customers and much needed rest as your group welcomes the peace.  Now fairly wealthy your group sits to mull over Volothamp’s latest plea for funds to help finish his next “literary Triumph”… when in walks your old constable “friends” Saeth Crommley and Barnibus Blastwind.  The two nod to you as following them, a man you have not seen before, slowly strides through the tavern door.  Adorned in regimented leather vestment with gold trim, his eyes take in the bar with slow methodical prowess as finally his piercing gaze falls upon you.

Mitruss Brightcoal, high-inquisitor to his lordship.  I suppose you know why I’ve come?”  Your group looks worried but befuddled, “Considering your involvement in matters of concern to the council of lordships, it seems likely you are apart of the murder of Captain Zord of the Sea Maiden’s Faire.  If not culprits, most likely knowledgable of whom, and perhaps where to find these assassins. ”

[after a long moment as he stares at each of you]

“You’ll all need to come with me.”

Your group is so taken aback, just one thing after another… this Dragon treasure is cursed it seems.

What to Expect:

This is a homebrew adventure to follow the published adventure Dragon Heist.  Your group will pick up where you left off, having succeeded in recovering the treasure in whatever manner it was “recovered”.  It is recommended for adventurers of 4th – 5th levels and will revisit many of the old villains and NPCs of the previous module, with one big difference… it seems that Jarlaxle might be in a little bit of trouble?

This adventure will need a balanced party and involve some investigation, stealth and a fair amount of combat prowess to complete.  As the group is a known entity with the Waterdeep guard, there is a little more wiggle room from the constabulary, but the group can’t take anything for granted.

What You Need to Play:

We will use Discord server for our voice chat and to coordinate game days, and use Roll20.net as our virtual table-top for combats.  Characters will be logged in DnD Beyond.  There will be a session-0 as we will need to have a small role-play session to understand how things went for your group at the end of Dragon Heist as it dictates how things unfold in The Bloody Pieces of Jarlaxle Baenre.

Age Limits: While we will deal with some serious subject matter, it is presented in such a way as to be age 13+.

If you have any questions about the module or want to request a certain day for your party please reach out to me through:

Hopefully, your group is not being framed, you know how petty the criminal underworld can be.

An excellent DM for beginners and experts alike

January 13, 2025

Nate is an excellent DM who not only makes a great game for players but also creates room for others to build their DM skills. The story he greats are immense with twists and surprises. I have enjoyed working with him on the Noctis campaign. He made a stranger feel welcome and helped us have a great experience.

Highly immersive game play and beginner friendly...

July 6, 2024

I recently had the pleasure of playing in a Cyberpunk Red game run by HollywoodDM (Nat), and it was an outstanding experience! HollywoodDM made the entire process incredibly smooth and enjoyable.

From the start, he created an immersive and engaging story that drew us all in. His vivid descriptions and dynamic storytelling brought the cyberpunk world to life, making it easy for us to get lost in the narrative. He was also incredibly patient and helpful, taking the time to explain the rules and mechanics in a way that was easy to understand.

What truly stood out was his ability to guide us through our first experience with the system. He provided us with a plethora of ideas and options for what our characters could do, ensuring that we felt empowered and excited to explore the game. His enthusiasm and dedication to making sure we had a great time were evident throughout the session.

Overall, GM Nat is an exceptional game master who excels at creating a beginner-friendly and immersive experience. If you’re new to Cyberpunk Red or just looking for a fantastic game master, I highly recommend playing in one of his games!

A very unique oneshot that was thoroughly fun, made by an awesome DM!

HollywoodDM is an incredible DM and very well experienced to anticipate my groups actions, and work with them on the fly. This oneshot was very fun and I highly recommend anyone reading this review to give him a shot. I know that I don’t regret playing in his oneshot, and I know that you sure won’t! And to my DM, masterfully done, masterfully played, 10 out of 10 would play again.

I've played every permutation of D&D since 1984, and what makes every game enjoyable is a GM focused on story and character. Nate has a wide arsenal of voices and differentiated NPC motivations and in-depth back-story, which combine to make his world-building feel full and truly "alive." During game sessions, his descriptions are rich, and his pace of play is neither hindered by excessive role-play, nor Spartan/without flair combat (specifically, he doesn't pull punches in fights, which I appreciate and prefer). I've also found that even small clues and seemingly incidental details present themselves in all NPC interactions, many of which lead to entire other adventures, or even campaigns. He really does balance his non-combat/combat sections well, and while I'm not privy to other groups that he runs, my group of veteran players are thoroughly addicted. I highly recommend you hire him for your campaign, or one-shot (just don't take my time slot)!
