Adventure on the High Seas
Nestled on the coast of the Azure Sea is Saltmarsh, a sleepy fishing village that sits on the precipice of destruction. Smugglers guide their ships to hidden coves, willing to slit the throat of anyone foolhardy enough to cross their path. Cruel sahuagin gather beneath the waves, plotting to sweep away coastal cities. Drowned sailors stir to unnatural life, animated by dark magic and sent forth in search of revenge. The cult of a forbidden god extends its reach outward from a decaying port, hungry for fresh victims and willing recruits. While Saltmarsh slumbers, the evils that seek to plunder it grow stronger. Heroes must arise to keep the waves safe!
This supplement introduces the port town of Saltmarsh, the perfect starting point for a nautical campaign. Seven sea-based adventures, including the classic The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh and its sequels, take characters from 1st to 12th level. Also inside are rules and DM advice for ships and sea travel, as well as deck plans for various vessels. An appendix provides rules for the new and classic monster in the adventures.
Hoist your sails, pull up anchor, and set a course for adventure!
What if you’ve never played an RPG, what is it like?
My games are player-driven, putting you and your character at the center of the plot. Your choices will decide the outcome: from heroic victory to an untimely end. We’re here to tell a great story that makes you feel like you’re in your favorite book or movie.
What do you need to do before the first session?
Upon sign up, we’ll connect and make sure you can begin fleshing out your character ideas. I can support you with questions about any of the tech we will use in-game. I will provide a discord link where you can discuss ideas with other players in the campaign.
What does the GM provide?
I provide access to the D&D Beyond source materials. In addition, I provide game-specific handouts and other materials to enhance your gaming experience.
We will all have a session zero in order to discuss guidelines for campaign play along with player introduction.
Character Creation Guidelines:
For this campaign you will make your own character. They begin at level 1.

GM Details/Guidance:
This campaign includes typical fantasy themes that one may find in stories like Lord of the Rings and Dragonlance. However, there are elements of subjectivity similar to Game of Thrones and that very little is considered truly “good or evil”. The game-world is how you make it. Player perspective is highly encouraged. Please reach out to me so I can answer whatever questions you may have!
Beginners welcome!
Matt ran a fun and entertaining one shot to celebrate the holiday season. Our characters had to fight evil regenerating turkeys board one of the three ships that were traveling to a new land across the sea. Our travel was fraught with danger as a giant sea monster attack and sank two of the three. When we land on the new shore we were met by a group of people who asked for help. We were successful in helping and those inhabitants we met sat down for the first Thanksgiving Dinner. Matt was superb in telling the story and we all had a great time playing. Thank you Matt, this is the second game I’ve played with you and once again it was a lot of fun.
I had never played a dungeon crawl, and Matt was kind enough to host a one shot so I could play one! We gathered a table of great players and had a fantastic time exploring an exciting dungeon beneath a tavern. Matt is always looking out for his players, and willing to answer any questions. He’s transparent, honest, and fast friends with everyone. It was a good time.
Matt is doing a fantastic job with my game. He is welcoming, creative, and laughs easily. The game runs smoothly; he makes it look easy. He is asks for feedback and looks for ways to improve, so this will just get better and better. Huzzah!

I've been playing D&D in all of its incarnations since the early 80's and I've been known to GM'd a module or two. As a player, I love the way Matt runs his sessions and really lets the players to play their characters to their fullest. I have a bad habit of doing unconventional things (within the rules and spirit of the game) and handles it perfectly. As a GM, I have nothing but the utmost respect for what he brings to the player, he's always prepared and ensures that all the players are engaged and enjoying themselves. Once this series finishes up, I'm looking forward to playing another adventure with him. Matt is a Rock Star!

Matt fosters a welcoming and comfortable environment, and I immediately felt like I was sitting around the table with friends. Our one-shot was great collaborative fun, and I look forward to another opportunity to play with him. Thanks, Matt!
I thoroughly enjoy D&D sessions with Matt as our DM. He is a great guy with a good sense of humor and a love of D&D.
During the Pandemic our zoom games were a blast. Thanks so much for all you did to make them an event! You won't go wrong with Matt's adventures.

Matt's a natural story teller/Writer. He breaks down game mechanics to be easy to understand, and play through. He is also very patient with new players.
