About the Adventure

You may have heard of The Quiet Year if you are a fan of The Adventure Zone podcast. It was used as a prologue to Ethersea, setting the stage for the entire adventure.

Perhaps it was a natural disaster, or the tensions between nations that left scars too deep to heal. You have scattered across the lands without a place to call home, until now. The remains of your community, only a few dozen strong, have found a place to start over. The Shepherds will bring Winter soon enough, but until then you can spend The Quiet Year preparing, exploring, gathering resources, and rebuilding what you can as the weeks quickly pass by.

This is your opportunity to create a new settlement filled with struggle, victory, failure, and a history that will give you inspiration for as many characters and stories as you want. Your imagination is the only limit. Arrive at your next game with a unique and richly detailed place where your character grew up, a place that inspired and molded them into the adventurer and hero they are destined to be.

But What Exactly is The Quiet Year?

The Quiet Year is a storytelling map-making game, focused on a single community and their immediate surroundings. Like most world building games, the narrative comes first, and the core of what we create is the story of a new settlement. A deck of cards is used to produce prompts through Spring, Summer, and Autumn as the players plan and make choices in hopes of being prepared for Winter, where the game can end at any time. The Quiet Year is great for players of all levels who enjoy improv, creative writing, or telling stories, as well as those that enjoy collaborative worldbuilding and deep lore.

What I Provide:

Upon sign up, please send me a message using the “Contact” button or through the RPG Club Discord so I can get you access to The Quiet Year Player Guide as well as the full rules. I will act as Moderator, drawing cards, taking notes, and guiding players through the turns. We will use Zoom for video and audio, and Whiteboard Online for sketching the features on a map, which will be saved and stored in a public Drive folder for everyone to access later.

What You Need:

A webcam, a mic, and your creativity.

This one-shot is expected to run 3 hours depending on when the King of Spades is drawn during Winter.

Please feel free to reach out to me with the “Contact” icon above so I can answer any questions you may have.

Great time

November 22, 2023

I felt really lucky to have Jeremy introduce this game and ttrpgs to me with this game. He was patient and walked through character creation and a small heist that felt like it was equal parts action and intrigue. Highly recommended.

A GM with endless imagination and world-building at its best

November 18, 2023

Jeremy’s knack for storytelling is truly superb. The lore, the dangers and especially the end of session cliffhangers keep us all coming back for more. He has a fantastic ability to immerse players into vivid surroundings and introduce them to interesting NPC’s along the way.

Jeremy thoughtfully encourages players to be active participants in character development and the world-building process. This equates to limitless imagination, super creative game sessions and a hell of a lot of fun for everyone!

My first introduction to D&D was with Jeremy after a friend won a session with him. We’ve done D&D, Blades in the Dark, he created his own Grim Dark campaign, Mork Borg, Shadow of the Demon Lord (modified), so many different systems. I’d say he’s quite the dabbler, but if Jeremy’s running it, it’s gonna be a good time.

He gives his players lots of creative freedom. He’s great with feedback so don’t be afraid to tell him what you may have liked or didn’t like in a session as he likes to experiment. He doesn’t pull punches soo if you roll poorly expect bad things to happen (but isn’t that fun of it?!)

Overall you can expect a good session and you’ll definitely have fun.

Outstanding GM Delivers Top Tier Gaming Experiences

Jeremy has a gift for developing absolutley unique and fully immersive worlds. He creates an experience that allows players to easily lose themselves in thier characters. He guides players on journeys and adventures so thoroughly that players can’t help but become fully emotionaly invested in the world and their fellow adventures’ well being. A world class GM, easily on par with the Matt Mercers and Brennen Lee Mulligans of the TTRPG world.

Jeremy is a one-of-a-kind. He brings ALL the magic!

November 7, 2023

I’ve been playing Jeremy’s games for years now and he never disappoints. His theater of the mind immersion is tip-top! Always runs his games very professionally with lots of fun involved. Very creative to bring in lots of new game elements and surprises. He has run DND 5e, but also runs many other platforms for me that are always great. I always need a lot of guidance and babysitting for character creation and game mechanics, and he is adept at providing plenty of information while not slowing down the group.

He’s the picasso of plot twists – the Shakespeare of shenanigans – balancing bad-assery and blending it with boons and banes.

I raise my glass to the miracle maker who makes my Tuesdays a little tastier!
