About

Who are you?
Heya, I’m Jack! I’m an Afro-Caribbean Game Master that’s born and based in the US Virgin Islands with roots in Anguilla. In the daytime I do hydroponic agrobusiness, nonprofit management and consulting, and disaster preparedness & response work. Fun fact: I’ve broken or dislocated each of of my fingers at least once, between martial arts and construction. Big fan of improv, equitable social systems, anime, the outdoors, and decolonization.

How did you get into TTRPGs?
Almost ten years ago, a friend from school invited me to play The Lost Mines of Phandelver. My character died holding the line against a flood of enemies to allow allies to escape. A few years later, I wanted to play again and could find no games, so I started one! It’s been mostly foreverGM business since then, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What Kind of Games do You Run?

My bread and butter games are simple, low-power adventures where you’ll solve a local problem and spiral upward from there. Sometimes it stays local, with maybe a dragon at the end of it all. Sometimes you end up visiting three dimensions in six sessions and recruiting an army to fight a dracolich and rogue angel who’s marshalling the armies of hell.

run my games according to a few tenets:
Story First: I’m a fan of your characters. We’re here to tell a cool story that’s about your characters interacting with a world that has no invisible walls with a tone we agree on, first and foremost. Everything is secondary to that, even the rules sometimes.

Just Enough Chaos: At my tables, we consult the dice often and allow wild rolls to introduce elements nobody (not even me!) saw coming. This plus a bit of improv magic tends to have tables flirting with catastrophic failure and laughing the whole way whether everything explodes and goes to hell or the plan goes off without a hitch!

-Safe Fun: I’m intentional about making my games a safe place for everyone. Players experiencing bullying and discrimination are non-starters at my tables. We’ll have out of game conversations to make sure adventures won’t contain content that doesn’t work for you, and I’m always willing to pause and take a step back to discuss above-table issues that may arise. It’s always more fun when we know everyone is having a good time.

What do you enjoy most about working with players?

My favorite part of running games is seeing people reconnect with the storyteller inside them when they realize there are no invisible walls, and that they really are shaping the world with their decisions.

Having moments that players talk about years after the game session is why I get out of bed in the morning.

What materials do you provide players?

In short, everything you’ll need to play. Most games are low-tech and mobile friendly, so we’ll run on Owlbear with simple maps and tokens as they’re needed.

I’ll provide character sheets and any documentation or guidance needed in character creation, and facilitate the process.

I’ll also provide safety tools and a content checklist so that we have a common understanding of the kind of things we can and won’t be covered in the course of our game.
